Uggs are back after being given the boot: are you ready for their return?
While not everyone’s cup of tea aesthetically, you can’t deny that wearing a pair of Ugg boots is like giving your feet a warm hug.
The Californian footwear brand totally polarized the nation in the early 2000s, when the unisex sheepskin shoes were permanently on certain feet and became a footwear fave with the likes of Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and Beyonce.
Nonetheless, not even their comfort was enough to stop them from becoming one of fashion’s biggest fashion faux pas over the past decade.
But is all that about to change?
High-fashion designers Jeremy Scott and Phillip Lim are both fully committed to bringing back the noughties item, and have collaborated with the brand in order to inject some stylish sole back into the boots we once loved.
As expected, Jeremy Scott completely reinvented the cult item by adding a modern pop-culture twist.
His one-of-a-kind collection features flames, jewels and embroidered ‘Ugg Life’ boots, that do a very good job of persuading even the least-convinced shopper to don the tan shoe again.
Phillip Lim also continued the shoe’s fond feeling of nostalgia, uggwinteroutlet : “it’s about visiting my memories of wearing UGG and what it represented to me as an aesthete – an unexpected, effortless, casual elegance.”
His urban-inspired menswear collection featured zips, two-tone material and an overall laid back sense of cool.
What’s more surprising is that the Ugg overhaul seems to be working, as Rita Ora, Zendaya and Lil Yachty are just a few of the celebs to be seen in the fleecy fashionable item in recent months.
It would seem that it’s very much time to embrace your inner ‘Ugg life’ all over again.
